JEJU MYTHS AND HISTORY PARK

The project describes the mythical narrative of Jeju Island—the “rise myth” that “gods rose from the ground”—with a central structure symbolizing a tree, the gods, and nature. Roots (past), pillars (present), and branches (future) compose the “soaring” movement of the structure and expand technical construction and the cultural imagination.

The fog forest was reinterpreted from the perspective of the city, and the visitor experiences the vitality of the city and the softness of nature through the ‘mist cloud’ that responds to the movements of the people.

By reinterpreting a natural phenomenon of the region—a typical local sea fog called “Haemu”—reshaping remnants of the old port, the audience will have an emotional experience of the region provided by its geographical, natural, historical, and cultural characteristics.

This pavilion is a promotion hall based on Korean Air’s branding catchphrase ‘Excellence in Flight’. Instead of a hard material, the wall forming its boundary with the outside was made from a moving ‘rain curtain’, indicating a smooth and pleasant service experience provided by Korean Air.
