The History Park serves as a pivotal element in the transformative journey of North Port, reshaping the locale's character and paying homage to its rich history. At the heart of this commemorative space lies a round sundial, which was created by local scientists and encapsulates the memories of Busan with an emotional exploration of the region's geographical, natural, historical, and cultural inheritance. The sun dial's design is reimagined using abandoned old cranes, effectively capturing the area's temporal landscape and its evolution over historical events.
Preserved remnants from the old North Port, including breakwater blocks, are strategically integrated throughout the park, serving as nostalgic anchors that bridge the gap between the present and the past. These elements, along with the abandoned cranes that form the sundial, are meticulously placed to create a visual narrative that engages visitors and encourages them to delve deeper into the port's storied history.
The History Park's design approach goes beyond mere preservation, incorporating a nuanced reinterpretation of natural phenomena and references to the wisdom of Korean ancestors. By carefully intertwining these elements with the repurposed port remnants and the scientifically significant sundial, the park creates a captivating and immersive experience that redefines visitors' perception of the space and its significance. The incorporation of the region's scientific achievements and the creative organizing of its industrial past serve as a testament to the power of design in shaping our understanding of history and its relevance to our present and future.
